Stoicism for solopreneurs

Essential focus tips

  • Remove distractions & addictions:
    • No Clickup, project management software or emails until after lunch.
    • DO NOT even open them in the morning.
    • Hide your phone, behind you, or in another room. Silent mode is not enough.
    • Every time you open your phone, you are flooded with distraction. Go back to brain dumping on notepad instead of phone, and reconcile them in a digital note at the end of the day.
    • It’s much easier to change your environment, than to resist temptation constantly. Use blockers, timers, DND mode, and physically remove distractions to reduce your mental surface area.
  • Work with intention
    • Every day set ONLY x1…
      • x1 growth task,
      • x1 maintenance task
      • x1 life admin task
      • x1 personal task
      • x1 fun activity per day
    • Anything else is a bonus.
  • Set yourself up for momentum:
    • Plan a1hr growth task the day before.
    • Prep everything for it the night before.
    • Do your Most Important Task first in the morning. (Not your most urgent, your most important.)
  • Work in sprints
    • Plan intense 40 min work blocks.
    • Set a timer or chime.
    • Stop at the end of each block, even if you still have energy.
    • Take a 10min break before your tired.
    • Play a short video game, grab a coffee,, ot do something that requires only your “little mind”
    • Try to alternate between mental tasks and physical tasks
  • Be realistic
    • leave 15min between each task for spillover tasks.
    • leave x1 block of at least 1hr for flexible or unexpected tasks.
    • Timeblock and plan your whole day. but expect your plan to change. Every time it changes, just rewrite your plan.
