Stoicism for solopreneurs

The next logical, and diabolical phase of social media

First we were forced to strip naked, sing and dance for an algorithm.
‘Engagement’ became the new economy.

In pursuit of engagement, we are served a daily fix of pornography, gluttony and wrath.
All the popular accounts seem to have succumbed to “gaming” the algorithm via shortcuts:

  • Hypersexualized content
  • Manufacturing controversy
  • Hidden engagement pods
  • Pay to play narrative campaigns

The people who have “made it” on social media, who are produce content that is useful, ethical & dignified are one in a million.
These people have made it based on merit and quality of their content.

But at least that algorithm was designed to capture human attention.
The next phase of social media is even more diabolical;
Pretty soon people are going to start creating content designed to appeal to the AI agents, so that AI agents will distribute their content to bot accounts.

Social algorithms merely give people what they want (instead of what they need).
AI will start teaching people what to want.
